New media technologies both spring from and cause cultural change.
Chances are, radio is not where your clients gather news and information, unless you’ve taken a time-machine back to the 1930s. The top news stories of the day are most likely not being read from a newspaper.

Newspapers sustained a huge blow between 2006 and 2014 when their revenue dropped from $49.3 billion to $22.3 billion.

What caused this change? New technology was developed. Craigslist took the print classifieds from a multi-billion dollar print business and turned it into a multibillion-dollar online business. Google, and Facebook have gobbled up traditional print advertising dollars, while online news sites, such as CNN, and FoxNews have soaked up print circulation. Netflix, YouTube, Hulu, Amazon Video are the preferred way TV programs are watched.

A sobering stat for cable and satellite companies: these streaming services are being used by more than 42% of American households.

What does this mean?
It means a lot of things. For instance cable companies are suffering, newspapers are suffering, some argue that print is dead. But for a company or individual trying to reach an audience, it means concise targeting, and creating content marketing to deliver the exact message intended for that audience, and then converting that audience into revenue are very great. Succinctly, what does it mean: New Technology + Cultural Change + Content Marketing = WIN! (And WIN! = Revenue.)
